Research programme

Adaptive Ensemble Rehearsal

User: String-quartet musicians rehearsing without a complete live ensemble.
Problem: Fixed backing tracks cannot respond to changes in a performer's timing and interpretation.
Intervention: ARME paired performers with responsive virtual musicians in augmented rehearsal environments.
Outcome: The programme established the research foundation for MyJAMS' current iPad, XR and adaptive-ensemble demonstrators.

Public deployment

Kenilworth Revealed

User: Visitors exploring St Mary's Abbey and Abbey Fields.
Problem: Historic characters and reconstructed spaces needed to be presented in their original location.
Intervention: Filmed historical characters and performances were integrated into a 3D AR reconstruction with spatial audiovisual scenes.
Outcome: A public AR visitor experience was launched, followed by guided demonstrations at the May 2026 Living History Afternoon.

Commercial discovery

From Research to Venture

User: The MyJAMS founding team and prospective product partners.
Problem: Academic demonstrators required market evidence and a clearer route towards adoption.
Intervention: ICURe Explore supported stakeholder discovery, followed by strategy and investor engagement through ICURe Exploit.
Outcome: The work refined the commercial strategy and informed progression from research demonstrators towards products.

Our Team

Massimiliano Di Luca

Director / Co-Founder

Max is Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham, where he leads the Virtual Reality Lab and is the PI of the ARME Project. At MyJAMS Ltd, Max ensures the scientific rigour and innovation of the technology, guiding its development from experimental prototypes to impactful products.

Diar Abdlkarim

Entrepreneurial Lead / Co-Founder

Diar is a research scientist and prototyping expert with a background in neuroscience and virtual reality, and co-founder of Obi Robotics and Motiondynamics. At MyJAMS Ltd, Diar drives innovation and translation of cutting-edge research into products, working closely with musicians, technologists, and partners to deliver novel rehearsal and performance platforms.

Arindam Dutta

Developer

Arindam is a developer with interests in virtual reality, haptics, UI/UX, and game development. He holds an MSc in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Birmingham and contributes to the development of MyJAMS’ immersive music technology.

Evguenni Penksik

Engineer

Evguenni is the main software developer on the ARME project, developing real-time graphics and audio-video integration for its immersive ensemble system. He holds an MSc in Computational Neuroscience and Cognitive Robotics from the University of Birmingham and an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Warwick, with expertise spanning virtual and augmented reality, machine learning, 3D graphics, modelling, and game development.

Christopher Jared Jones

Intern

Chris is an MSci Computer Science student at the University of Birmingham, with experience in music performance capture, audiovisual recording for the ARME project, and augmented reality training applications. At MyJAMS, he will work on guitar interactions for our immersive music technology.
